"My 70 year old grandfather is taking his final test this week to be an official First Responder. He's been the president of the
Six Mile VFD for the last four or five years. So...firemen have a very special place in my heart. They live in a very poor part of East Texas. Most of the men (that aren't retired) at their station work various odd jobs to support their families in addition to the work they do on a voluntary basis with the VFD. If anything ever happened to one of them, it is comforting to know there is an organization to help their families. "

"My wife's passion to share her dream and vision with the public
will help ensure that this event is properly done and that this
event grows as large as it should (whether this year or in the
future). "

"I have the great privilege of being Laura's close friend and getting to share in her excitement as each piece of the plan falls into place. She has been talking about her vision for this event for a long time now, and I knew if anyone could pull it off, she could. She has worked tirelessly to make this event great, to show the respect, honor, and support the firefighters and their families are so deserving of. Even through all the excitement of her amazing accomplishments - such as getting the Ballpark for the venue - she has never lost sight of the real reason she is doing this. If you sat glued to the TV on the days following 9/11, thinking 'what can I do to help' - here is an opportunity to do something. I hope you will come join us, I believe it will be an amazing experience for us all."

No greater love has Man than this: that they down their lives for another.'' We honor these incredible men and women who lay down there lives, literally, everyday for all of us. But we are ALL called to lay down our lives for one another- to sacrifice our time, our talents, and our hearts, in service to those around us, near and far. Thank you to the firefighters for all they do, and thank you to all the organizers and volunteers who have laid down their lives to make this happen.

I want my daughter who is 11 to join me and possibly my son who
is 14. I've been thinking of ways to help them get more involved
with helping others and this cause is especially nice because I can
donate blood as well. It's hard to find time to donate.
